We automate tyre quality from start to finish
VRAIA has spent more than ten years revolutionising the tyre industry. From its start in the sector in 2015 to today, the company has continuously refined its approach with the goal of becoming the best in the industry, offering innovative and efficient solutions based on advanced technologies and tailored to the challenges of today’s industry. The company has developed various industrial projects for this sector with the world’s leading tyre manufacturers.
TIRE DEFECT INSPECTION. Automatic visual detection
Final tyre inspection and quality control system. This system uses advanced artificial intelligence to identify tyre defects, as well as key manufacturing elements required to ensure the highest safety standards in production quality.
Cycle time: 13s/tire
Supported tire sizes: 500–980mm
Specification control: + 200 defect types
Real-time tire inspection system for PTI
Technology with patents granted in 26 countries.
Since the technology has been validated against the strictest standards in the automotive sector by major manufacturers, it achieves a defect-detection reliability far higher than what humans can perceive.
Because of this, we are committed to expanding the reach of this solution, which improves road safety. According to various sources, 2% of accidents are due to poor tyre condition, and last year this caused 200 fatalities on roads in Spain. And that’s without considering low-grip road conditions (rain), where the importance of tyres in this type of accident rises to 30%.
Our solution can be deployed very easily in ITV centres. With a small setup, we scan, process, and analyse tyre condition, detecting any anomaly they may present. ITV technicians currently reject vehicles due to bulges, wear, or cracks in the rubber. Our technology can detect and classify more than 200 defect types in under 15 seconds. If this information were shown to the ITV inspector, they could make a better-informed decision about tyre condition and help prevent more serious outcomes for the end user. The system can also read all information on the tyre sidewall, such as size, manufacturing date, and origin. It can also measure tread groove depth and the contact patch.
Internal scanning of tire anomalies using X-rays
Software plug-in compatible with all tire X-ray scanning machines. This AI software package has been trained on thousands of tires and can detect anomalies in real time on the images captured by X-ray machines.
The system includes a dashboard to visualise all quality and production parameters, as well as cloud monitoring integrated into the rest of the factory ecosystem.
Tire quality control system at the end of the production process.
Final tyre identification and quality control system. This system can recognise characters and markings on tyre sidewalls, as well as different manufacturing elements required to comply with market regulations.
Cycle time: 3s/tire
Supported tire sizes: 500–950mm
Specification control: Tread lines, color marking, OCR reading and OCV sidewalls.
Rubber mixing system for tire manufacturing
Robotic system for automatically loading rubber bales into the mixer or Banbury. This system removes a heavy and hazardous manual task, where operators handle 35 kg bales, by using the latest AI and computer vision technology. The system recognises the bales in the box, and the robot extracts them and performs the required cuts to complete a formula with up to six different rubber types.
Average cycle time per batch: 75s
Supported bale size: 300x750mm
Weight control during cutting: 1% tolerance
